Jeff Kowalkowski

Born in Chicago in 1967. He currently lives there, teaching Composition at De
Paul University. He founded a not-for-profit corporation called the Milkwood
Foundation in 1998 which produces recording projects with "at-risk" youth, and
in economically disadvantaged areas of the city. He has released three CDs with
the critically acclaimed duo "Jack the Dog" , and his opera project with Croatian
composer Marko Ciciliani has been produced 21 times in the U.S., Holland, and
Germany. In 1998 he worked on "Voix [time]" at Darmstadt. He has received grants
and commissions from the American Composer's Forum, Meet the Composer, the Cultural
Council of Hamburg, Gaudeamus, the Shedd Aquarium of Chicago and the Pauline
Olivero's Foundation. His most recent group "Kruk Trio", has a CD release available
at MP3.com/KrukTrio, which includes Sven Hermann as special guest accordionist.
His wife Mary Decker is a Librarian at the Chicago Public Library.
